Neamat Imam
Neamat Imam, born in Chandpur, Bangladesh, in 1971, now lives in Edmonton. His books include Elephant Road (play, 1997), Boidik (novella, 1999), Amaar Rashtro Amaar Nagorik (novella, 2010). His first novel, written in English The Black Coat was published by Penguin Books India in 2013. Periscope imprint of Garnet published it in Britain in 2015 and in Canada in 2016. The novel takes a darkly satirical look at the politics of 1970s Bangladesh, a time when the country was recovering from a bloody struggle for independence. Neamat Imam is one of the 20 CBC Books’ 2016 writers to watch.
