Shahinur Islam

Born on 15 November 1979 in the district of Gaibandha, Bangladesh, Shahinur Islam completed his BA (Hons) and Masters in English from Jahangirnagar University. He had been a teacher at Dhaka Commerce College, Bangladesh for six years. In 2012, he immigrated to Canada.

Shahinur writes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction in English and Bengali alike. He has four books published: poetry—Tears of the Sun (2012), Awakenings in the Dark World (2012) and short stories—Parobashi Mon (2017), Onno Aakash(2017).

He also writes lyrics and set tune to songs. Traveling, video-making, photographing, and playing on flute are some of his pastimes.
