Syed Zahir Sadeque
Syed Zahir Sadeque, currently based in Toronto, is a Sociologist by training and a teacher, researcher and development practitioner by vocation. He was educated at The University of Dhaka and Cornell University, USA. He has also taken short courses with University of Philippines, University of Indiana-Bloomington and United Nations Staff College, Turin, Italy.
Zahir or Sadeque as he is known to his friend/acquaintance circle is more of a (voracious) reader than a writer. His publications (Journal articles, books and articles in books) are on social, economic and development issues on Bangladesh, South Asia and global affairs.

The geographic area that now forms what is known as Bangladesh was the larger part of a province in Pre-British and British India, called Bengal. This was also the home of a major ethno-linguistic group in India, the Bengalis. As a part of greater India, history, tradition and even researches on Bengal are therefore closely inter-linked with rest of India.
