Salma Bani

Salma Bani is a Bangladeshi Canadian writer. She was born in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh, December 16, 1962.  She earned a master degree in History and a Bachelor degree in Law from Dhaka University, Bangladesh.

She is the recipient of the Bangla Academy Syed Waliullah Purushker in 2020, a Bangladesh National Prize for the writers. Her most recent novel Immigration received the Gemcon Literary Award in Bangladesh. She received the Kagoj Shahitto Puroshker for her collection of short stories Boba Somoy o Nil Upakhkhan. She is the author of 12 published novels along with a collection of short stories. She also writes Non-fiction and History.
